Repair ship ESAB IV

The ESAB IV was built in 1920 by Elektriska Svetsning AB (ESAB) in Gothenburg. She is unique in that she has the world’s first fully welded hull, and today she is also the oldest preserved fully welded ship. During the 1920s and 1930s she was used to transport repair crews to ships in Gothenburg port. Towards the end of the 1930s, the ESAB IV was sold to Malmö where she was used for light transport up until 1987.

The ship is now culturally listed and owned by the company ESAB.  ESAB IV has a friends' association, which you can visit!
