Important information

TICKETS AND SEASONAL PASSES

We recommend you to purchase your ticket or season pass in our web shop before your visit. This way, you are always guaranteed the best price - and avoid queuing on board.

We also accept Go City Gothenburg pass holders.

ACCESSIBILITY

Maritiman’s entrance, café and ships are listed in TD – Sweden’s accessibility database. Maritiman exhibits ships in their original condition, which means some have high thresholds and steep ladders for getting aboard. It is not possible, therefore, to move around by wheelchair. Guide dogs are permitted.

We do not currently have special pram parking facilities, but if space allows you can leave your pram on the Ada I pontoon. Please bring a baby carrier for your child.

IONIZING RADIATION ON BOARD THE SUBMARINE

Measurements made by The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority on August 25, 2022 showed a risk of ionizing radiation in the reflective tape placed to mark certain places inside the submarine Nordkaparen. The submarine has been closed to visitors ever since - and will remain closed until decontamination has been completed. However, this does not affect the rest of the museum.

disturbing infrastructure projects in the area

Right now, it is a bit messy outside Maritiman. In 2023, parts of Packhuskajen quay will undergo extensive renovations. This, combined with the construction of the major transport infrastructure project in Gothenburg called The West Link, could make it seem a bit difficult to get to/from Maritiman right now.

The parts of the quay where the work is in progress will be a fenced work area, but there are references for alternative pedestrian and bicycle paths in the meantime. You will still be able to walk along the water along most of the quay.

HOW TO GET HERE

Maritiman is moored at Packhuskajen quay in central Gothenburg. Its immediate neighbours are Göteborgsoperan (the opera house) and Kajskjul 8. It takes around ten minutes to walk to Maritiman from Gothenburg Central Station, Brunnsparken and Drottningtorget.

BY BICYCLE

Bicycle parking facilities are available at Göteborgsoperan. Gothenburg also has a bicycle loan scheme known as Styr & Ställ. Bicycles can be collected from the bicycle station outside Tullpackhuset. Please note that you need to register to use the bicycles.

BY TRAIN, BUS OR TRAM

The nearest bus and tram stops are Stenpiren and Lilla Bommen. From there it is a short walk of about five minutes to Maritiman. For exact times and routes, please go to the Västtrafik travel planner.

BY CAR

Look up the directions on Google Maps, for instance. The closest place to park is right outside Maritiman, at the Packhuskajen quay. However, during the season this may be affected by the ongoing infrastructure projects. There is also a multi-storey car park at the Nordstan shopping centre.
